Melanie Merle
2023 Fellow, Indigenous Nations Poets
A member of the Chickasaw Nation, Melanie grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended Regis University for both her undergraduate coursework and her MFA. After time as a script writer for the Chickasaw Nation's Communications Department, she moved to Denver to teach for Lighthouse Writer's Workshop in their community outreach program, Writing to Be Free. Melanie's work can be found in Poetry Northwest, New South, Hairstreak Butterfly Review, and the anthology, Infinite Constellations, out of the University of Alabama Press. After almost six years with the literary and art journal Inverted Syntax, Melanie is excited to announce her new role as book editor.
